Bible verse for meditation:

KJV
41 And it came to pass, that, when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost:
42 And she spake out with a loud voice, and said, Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb.
43 And whence is this to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?
44 For, lo, as soon as the voice of thy salutation sounded in mine ears, the babe leaped in my womb for joy.

NABRE
41 When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the infant leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth, filled with the holy Spirit,
42 cried out in a loud voice and said, “Most blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb.
43 And how does this happen to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?
44 For at the moment the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the infant in my womb leaped for joy.

Meditation on scripture / bible verse meditation:

The Book of John represents a higher representation of Jesus. The birth of Jesus represents the coming of the light. The Word, being Jesus Christ, was from the beginning. The birth of Jesus is the coming of the Word into this world which chased out the darkness. It was this action

Details:

During the time when Mary was pregnant with Jesus she went to visit Elisabeth. Luke doesn’t say exactly why Mary visited Elisabeth but it was when Elisabeth was 6 months pregnant with John the Baptist. Mary was not as far along her pregnancy and it seems possible that she was doing it to avoid others discovering her pregnancy further demonstrating the shame Mary had to endure for carrying the Son of God.

I really love this scripture because it speaks of spiritual conviction which comes through the Spirit. Not only this but John the Baptist, who was a baby in Elisabeth’s belly, recognized it. This is one of the first witnesses of the Divinity of Jesus. Both women and children were not considered to be viable witnesses in Jewish courts and yet here they were testifying of the divinity of Jesus. This testimony Elisabeth received through testimony of the Holy Ghost.

There were many people who could not recognize the divinity of the Adult Christ, yet Elisabeth was able to feel the conviction of Jesus’ divinity. Not through Angels or Visions of Glory but the spirit speaking to her heart. Similarly you and I can receive a testimony of the Divinity of Jesus and any other truth of God, through the Holy Spirit. My hope is that this same conviction that burned in Elisabeth’s heart will be revived in ours as we reflect on Jesus this Christmas Season.

Final Question:

Final Thought:

As we navigate through this life we often seek guidance. Many times there are questions we have in our lives that we ask to God. It is important to note that God is the one who determines when the answer comes but I believe that it is equally important that we put spiritual oil in our own lamps so that when we most need the answers, that we are ready to receive the answers he would provide. May we continue to humble ourselves and approach God seeking His wisdom and witness.

39 During those days Mary set out and traveled to the hill country in haste to a town of Judah, 40 where she entered the house of Zechariah and greeted Elizabeth. 41 When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the infant leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth, filled with the holy Spirit, 42 cried out in a loud voice and said, “Most blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb. 43 And how does this happen to me, that the mother of my Lord[n] should come to me? 44 For at the moment the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the infant in my womb leaped for joy. 45 Blessed are you who believed[o] that what was spoken to you by the Lord would be fulfilled.”
